262_nicha-adrian_2485Hi, my name is Nicha. The Green Recipes is where I share my love of good food, my passion for cooking and my favourite homemade vegetarian recipes.

Food has always been important to me for as long as I can remember. I need good food to remain happy. Even though I hadn’t been cooking myself until 2004, when I came to study abroad. Back then I had to learn how to make my own food to survive. I was terrible at it at the beginning! My food was either partly burned or partly uncooked. Then I tried to observe when I cooked with my friends and learn from my own mistakes. And before I noticed I really started to enjoy cooking and love eating what I cook. In early 2008 I decided to become a vegetarian and since then I’ve been even more passionate about cooking. I learned to be more flexible and more creative when it comes to choosing ingredients and how I deal with them. My kitchen became a playground, where I love to spend time creating and developing new recipes.

Normally in my fridge you’ll always find some fresh fruit and vegetable. They are the most important ingredients in my recipes. I think the quality  of the produces really makes a different. That’s why going to farmers’ markets is one of my favourite things to do. Luckily, there is a very nice one nearby every Saturday and an organic supermarket, where I usually do my grocery shopping.

I love to flip through cookbooks, read blogs and explore many kinds of cuisines to get ideas for a recipe. It’s exciting to know that there are plenty of delicious food out there you’ve never eaten before. For me, healthy food doesn’t have to be boring. I love spicy food and  I usually have snacks or dessert between main meals. The key is to keep balance, so that both stomach and body can be happy. And to be honest, when I crave something not-so-healthy, I also go for it from time to time because occational indulgence is also a (happy) part of life.
